Tandridge District Council Chairman, Councillor Glynis Whittle, is asking residents to join her at the Council Offices, Oxted, from 10am to 12 noon on Friday 25 September for a cup of coffee to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Tandridge District Council is taking part in Macmillan’s annual fundraising event - the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Last year, coffee mornings around the country raised £7.5 million which helped fund 108 new Macmillan nurses and give grants to over 24,000 people, all of which made a real difference to cancer patients and their families. It also helped over 39,500 people receive advice and support from the Macmillan helpline. Macmillan hopes to make this year’s coffee morning the best break possible and raise even more money to support cancer patients and their families.
Councillor Glynis Whittle said: “With so many people suffering the effects of cancer, even if we don't suffer personally we will all know people that are. Macmillan Nurses give much needed relief and help to sufferers and their families. I hope that as many of you will join me to raise much needed funds."
In the UK, 822 people are told they have cancer every day. Money raised through Tandridge District Council’s coffee morning will help Macmillan Cancer Relief fund specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors, buildings for cancer treatment and care, grants for patients in financial difficulties and information services, which make life easier for cancer patients and their families and reduce unnecessary levels of fear.
