Gavin (Mathew Horne) is an ordinary boy from Essex in England; Stacey (Joanna
Page) is an ordinary girl from Barry in Wales. After speaking on the phone to
each other every day at work, they finally met, fell in love and got married.
The difference in backgrounds and culture doesn't hinder their romance, which
flourishes when they finally meet for the first time after hitting it off during
their numerous flirtatious work calls.
Stacey's guardian-uncle, Bryn (Rob Brydon), has pledged to look out for his
niece – when not obsessing over his faulty satellite navigation system –
while Gavin is doted on by his sometimes emotionally volatile mother, Pam
(Alison Steadman), who only wants the best for her "little prince".
On the occasionally rocky route to Gavin and Stacey's wedding, the two very
different sets of families and friends must learn to get along together.

The couple's best friends, the forthright Nessa (Ruth Jones) and best man
Smithy (James Corden), get along very, very well but, unfortunately, only when
they're plastered.
The second series of Gavin And Stacey sees how their marriage is working out;
what is happening in the lives of their respective families; and, more
importantly, if their best friends Nessa and Smithy are finally getting along.
Following their honeymoon, Gavin and Stacey are living with his parents in
Essex until they can get a place of their own. Gavin will not even consider
moving to Barry, and Stacey feels bad for leaving her family. She also wants to
be there to support her newly-pregnant best friend, Nessa (Ruth Jones).
But Nessa has a bombshell of her own – Smithy (James Cordon) is the father of
the child she is carrying. In an emotional end to the second series, Nessa gives
birth to Neil the baby and Smithy must face up to the fact he is a father.
In the one-off festive special (December 2008), it's Christmas Eve and the West
family join the Shipman clan for one of Mick's (Larry Lamb) famous turkey
dinners.
Smithy, excited about his first Christmas with his son, doesn't count on
Nessa's boyfriend Dave Coaches (Steffan Rhodri) tagging along and playing happy
families with Nessa and his son. It doesn't help matters when Nessa accepts
Dave's marriage proposal.
As tension mounts and tempers flare, neighbours Pete (Adrian Scarborough) and
Dawn (Julia Davies) get embroiled in the family argument and it ends with Pete
punching Dave Coaches.
Jason (Robert Wilfort) and Bryn, meanwhile, had a heart-to-heart about "that"
fishing trip and Gavin and Stacey's revelation to Pam and Smithy about moving to
Barry doesn't quite turn out to be the Christmas present they were expecting.
Series 3... With four British Comedy Awards, two Baftas and a South Bank Show
award to its name, Gavin And Stacey returns for a new series on BBC One.
As Gavin starts his new job, the move to Barry Island means big changes for the
whole family. Pam and Mick have to adjust to an empty nest while Gwen's got a
full house again.
Stacey is in her element, but will this finally be the solution to the couple's
long-distance problem? And how will Gavin take to living in Wales?
Smithy questions their friendship along with his own role as father – and
with Dave Coaches on the scene and now engaged to Nessa, will Smithy find
himself pushed out of the frame? How will life in a caravan work out for Nessa
and her soon-to-be husband Dave?
Joining the cast as Smithy's mum, Cath, is Pam Ferris.
