Cheryl Cole is kids' ideal teacher
Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has been chosen as the ideal teacher by British schoolchildren, beating former Doctor Who actor David Tennant to the top spot.
Despite leaving school with no GCSEs, the X Factor judge gained more votes than intellectual TV presenter Stephen Fry, who came ninth.
Children's trading website Swapit.co.uk asked 2,000 pupils aged six to 18 who they would like to learn from, revealing which celebrities have the strongest appeal to youngsters.
US popstar Miley Cyrus landed third place, footballing icons David Beckham and Wayne Rooney both entered the top 10, and former glamour model-turned-business woman Katie Price was the seventh most popular choice.
Swapit's chairman David Soskin said: "Kids and adults alike love the glitz and glamour of the X Factor and Cheryl is rapidly becoming a great role model for kids."
The children also said they would most like to learn about finance and environmental issues, and showed a keen interest in the climate. Most said they would rather see a reduction in global warming than have England's football team win the World Cup in South Africa later this year.
