The fate of John Terry's England captaincy is hanging in the balance as Fabio Capello holds talks with the Chelsea skipper over his alleged affair with a team mate's ex-girlfriend.

Capello has a busy weekend ahead of him upon his return from his Swiss holiday home as he looks to finally solve the issue of Terry's captaincy without taking a media scrum with him to the Euro 2012 draw in Warsaw on Saturday.

Pressure has been mounting on the England manager, famed for his no-nonsense pragmatism, to make a firm decision over whether Terry can continue as England's leader on the pitch following allegations of extra-marital indiscretions off it.

Capello is facing the added problem of assessing the future of Manchester City's Wayne Bridge, whose own England career is in doubt following the scandal.

City boss Roberto Mancini gave little away following a meeting he held with Capello's assistant, Franco Baldini, who had been tasked by the England manager to assess Bridge's attitude towards the saga.

Mancini said: "I said it is not a good moment in his head but it's not a problem on the training ground. It's important he can play now and not think about the other person."

The allegations came to light following a High Court judge's decision to overturn a "super injunction" which Terry had secured against the claims.
